So far, January has been very kind to Smallwood. The next time you read this column it will be February 3rd.
Smallwood managed very nicely through the last snowfall, thanks to a busy highway road crew.

A perfect skating area has been shoveled clear on little Mosquito Pond for an intended ice hockey game. Hopefully the warmer weather these last few days does not soften it up too much.

Have seen snowdrops coming up in one of our gardens, which sure does let us know that lots of life is going on under the soil. We need just a bit more snow for a blanket. The snow also adds to the prettiness of the countryside, giving it a real nice cleaned up look.

Take a ride tomorrow, the 28th, down 17B to the Distillery at The Dancing Cat to hear MIZ beginning at 8 pm. Or, if you are in the Kauneonga area, Judy of The Fat Lady says, "Dennis is on tap". For those of you who do not know him, his name is Dennis Newberg, and he is a very talented musician. The Fat Lady will be closing for a while in two weeks and reopening in April.

Luzon is open and will be for the entire winter season, and offers many specials. Patti is planning a Valentine Evening special on the 14th. She and Jonathan also would like you to know that if you missed their New Year's Eve buffet, stop in on February 17th when the whole New Year's menu will be repeated.

Hurray for the New York Giants! It will be great cheering for a New York team during the Superbowl.
