A member of the volunteer lake patrol may approach you for proof of membership. Boaters must present life jackets/personal floatation devices when asked to do so.

Per New York State law, while on the lake, all children under age 12 must be wearing a life jacket/personal flotation device and there must be one life jacket/personal floatation device for each adult on the boat. Children under 18 years old must have an adult (over 18) on the boat with them, unless the child has taken a boat certification course and must have such certificate with it at all times. Number of people on the boat shall not exceed the maximum capacity. Gasoline powered boats are forbidden. All boats powered by an electric motor must be registered with the State of New York.

Wash your boat after visiting another body of water to prevent contamination to Smallwood Lake.
